Tahiti is ranked as the top island in the world to visit! The island has something for everyone, including beautiful beaches, opportunities to hike through the jungle, and other adventurous activities. There’s so much to see, do, and hear in Tahiti!

Visit the Beach

Tahiti’s beaches are world-renowned, and the main draw for many visitors. Some of the beaches are a unique black color due to volcanic rock, but the island also has dazzling white sand beaches such as La Plage de Maui. The warm, crystal-clear waters are another reason to visit. The lagoon’s waters are shallow and unbelievably calm, making them perfect for wading or simply sitting on the beach and admiring the the scenery.

Hike to the Fautaua Waterfall

For the more adventurous traveler, the Fautaua Waterfall is a natural masterpiece. The waterfall, located in the Fautaua Valley, is 985 feet tall! Visiting the waterfall involves an intense hike through the jungle, but the spectacular view and the sound of the incredible waterfall is certainly worth the effort. The falls can be tricky to find, so a tour group or guide is a good investment to ensure you make it.

Go Surfing

Tahiti has two surfing seasons and several surf spots to accommodate both advanced and amateur surfers. If you’ve never surfed before but want to learn, Tahiti is a great place to start! Ecole de Tura’i Mataare and Tama He’e a good surf schools that offer lessons for beginners to advanced surfers. You can take private lessons, or opt to join a group session for a lower price. Even if you don’t have a desire to surf, watching professionals from the beaches is still a great activity.

Interact with Sharks and Stingrays

If you’re feeling brave, a shark and stingray feeding tour is an experience you’re sure to remember! You and a guide will feed black-tipped sharks and southern stingrays. But you won’t just be tossing food over the side of the boat. You’ll actually get into the water and get up close and personal with some of the world’s most incredible sea life!

If sharks aren’t your thing, don’t worry. There’s plenty of fish in the sea! Tahiti offers incredible snorkeling. You’ll be able to see unique coral formations, colorful fish, and perhaps even a sea turtle!

Tahiti offers many opportunities for your senses, whether they be dazzling your sight with colorful fish or overwhelming your hearing with the pounding water of the Fautaua Waterfall.
